Poplar Crescent
Poplar Crescent is getting a makeover!
The Poplar Crescent community was constructed in the early 1970’s, making it over 50 years old. The time has come for the infrastructure to be replaced. This includes the sewers, road, sidewalks and curbs. Replacing infrastructure in an active community is always a challenge- but one that Town of Aurora’s Contract Administrators and Municipal Engineers tackle on an annual basis, all over Aurora. Our team is excited to take on this challenge that we’ve been planning for the past 5 years.

Project Update October 25th 2024
Share Project Update October 25th 2024 on Facebook Share Project Update October 25th 2024 on Twitter Share Project Update October 25th 2024 on Linkedin Email Project Update October 25th 2024 linkHello residents of Poplar Crescent
The full closure of Henderson Drive has begun and the sewers that were installed under Poplar Crescent are now being connected to the sewers under Henderson Drive. We anticipate that the last day of the closure will be November 1st.
The homes on the north/south leg of Poplar Crescent have all been fully connected to the new sewers. Congestion will reduce significantly in the highlighted area. We really appreciate everyone's cooperation and patience.
The work to fully connect the homes on the east/west leg will commence next week. Houses 76 to 70 are all connected to 1 large water service, 1 large sanitary service and 1 large storm water service. Replacing these services is much faster than replacing multiple services for each home.
On Monday, October 28th work will begin at intersection #5. All of the homes in the cul-de-sac connect to a single storm, sanitary and water service. Again, a single connection makes things much faster. However there will be a lot of congestion at the intersection of the cul-de-sac and Poplar Crescent. Those who live in houses 2 - 32 are being asked to please park in the LCBO plaza if possible. Access to the cul-de-sac will not be fully blocked but there will be congestion.
Once this work is done the crew will move to install the same services at the next cul-de-sac which is intersection #4 on the map.
By the first week of November the only underground work that will remain is the new watermain on the east/west leg. This work is expected to take about 1 week to finish.
Once this work is done new street lights will be installed and then the road building will begin. By mid December we anticipate that all of the new sidewalk and curbs will be installed and the base asphalt will be paved.
We will come back in 2025 to fix any areas that settle in the road and then we will pave the final top course of asphalt.
We appreciate everyone's patience. Your cooperation has allowed the contractor to work as quickly as possible. We apologize for all of the water shutoffs that have occurred without notice. The watermain is very old and brittle and it has been bursting in random locations.
I am very confident that everyone will be pleased when they come home everyday to a brand new neighborhood with new grass, sidewalks and asphalt.
I hope everyone has a nice weekend.
Thank you

September 12th Update
Share September 12th Update on Facebook Share September 12th Update on Twitter Share September 12th Update on Linkedin Email September 12th Update linkThe mainline sewers have been installed on the North/South leg of the Poplar Crescent. This is a milestone for the project. The remaining work on this section includes connecting the homes to the new sewers and installing the watermain. Once these 2 tasks are complete the road will be paved after new curbs and sidewalks are installed.
Work has begun on the East/West leg of Poplar Crescent. We started at the top of the Crescent where we started the first section and now we are working East towards the plaza. We are currently installing the main sewers in the road. Once the main sewers are complete the watermain will be installed, then sidewalk and curb and then paving.
We are aiming to complete the project before the end of the year.
The Town and Trisan Construction and very grateful for everyone's patience and cooperation.

Construction Has Begun!
Share Construction Has Begun! on Facebook Share Construction Has Begun! on Twitter Share Construction Has Begun! on Linkedin Email Construction Has Begun! linkThe first step to rehabilitating a community is to protect the environment. Tree protection and silt fence are being installed throughout the project today.
After the long weekend, Trisan Construction will start working on the storm sewers. They are going to start in the north west corner of Poplar Crescent by the pool parking lot. While they are working in this area access to the parking lot will be limited and at times it will be inaccessible.
The Town of Aurora has made an agreement with the condo board to install a temporary parking lot off Henderson Drive. Stay tuned for more details on the parking lot and the construction schedule.
