We are building a multi-use path (MUP) along Yonge Street that will run from Bloomington Road north to the GO Train Bridge. This north-south path will be designed to allow for a wide-range of recreational uses such as cycling, walking, jogging and wheelchair access. The goal for the Yonge Street MUP is to allow the community to connect to key destinations in Town such as the Aurora GO Station, existing trails, schools and local businesses. Checkout the flyover view below to see the proposed trajectory of the future MUP.

Currently, active transportation facilities are not provided along this stretch of Yonge Street. Cyclists share the road with motorists without dedicated and separated facilities, and pedestrians are using the shoulder of the road to access services and amenities north of this area. This multi-use path will increase safety for all road users.

  • Share Why isn't the Town of Aurora creating paths in the southwest area by Yonge and Wellington to connect George Street public school land to Fleury Park and Matchell Park. Every other area in Aurora seems to be getting walking trails except this area! There is a new townhouse development at 45 Tyler that could have a trail along the stream. There is also an area of land between Tyler and Wellington privately owned by Bacon Basketware and a house on Mill that could be acquired as a trail as well. This area has been consistently ignored for trails and public facilities such as recreation centres. So sorry for the delay in our respons. There are plans for active transportation facilities north of the project, in the longer term. Plans for south of Bloomington should be confirmed with Richmond Hill as it is their jurisdiction.

Hi Barry, thanks for reaching out. The design options are still being evaluated. It could be just one side or both sides; all options are still on the table.
