Playground Renovations for Atkinson & Optimist Park

Park Upgrade Schedule

Park upgrades are coming this fall! Optimist Park will be closed from mid-September to mid-October, while Atkinson Park will be closed from early October to the end of November. Work includes replacing playground equipment and surfaces at both parks, as well as a new asphalt walkway through Atkinson Park. Playgrounds will not be accessible during installation, and access to some areas of the parks may be limited while work is underway. Thank you for your patience as we make these improvements!

As part of our capital asset management plan, it’s time to renew the playgrounds at Optimist Park and Atkinson Park.

Why we are renovating?
Playgrounds typically have a lifecycle of about 20 to 25 years. While playgrounds are inspected routinely for safety, every playground in Aurora is a part of the Town’s asset management cycle. This year, we’re replacing the playgrounds at Atkinson Park and Optimist Park, in alignment with our 10-year capital plan...AND we want your feedback!
