What is a zoning by-law?
A Zoning By-law is a legal document outlining the set of regulations that determine how a piece of land can be used and developed. The Zoning By-law regulates the use of land and buildings; the location and setbacks of buildings and structures; the types of buildings permitted; lot sizes and heights; parking requirements; and performance standards such as landscaping requirements.
