We are preparing a five-year update to the Parks & Recreation Master Plan. Guided by consultation, research and analysis, the updated plan will identify priorities for recreation facilities, parkland and park amenities, and related services.
The previous Master Plan was prepared in 2016 and has reached the end of its timeframe. The Town has made significant progress in implementing this plan, such as adding program spaces and a gymnasium to the SARC (in progress), creating new sports fields and courts, establishing new trail connections, completing a User Fee Review and Access Policy, expanding program options, and much more.
We are seeking public input to help the Town create a roadmap for the next five years! The updated plan will consider ideas and suggestions from Aurora residents and stakeholders, our evolving demographics, growth patterns, and changing activity preferences. Monteith Brown Planning Consultants have been retained to assist the Town with this project.
Have Your Say!
Over the coming months, there will be a number of opportunities for you to become a part of the conversation and make sure your voice is heard. Please consider participating in one or more of the following ways:
Complete the Online Community Survey. The survey will be open until Sunday, October 23 and should take about 10 minutes to complete. One submission per resident aged 16 years and older is permitted.
Join us at the Aurora Farmer’s Market (Town Park) on Saturday, October 1 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. to share more about your needs and priorities.
Representatives of community organizations and sports associations in Aurora will be contacted to provide input through stakeholder focus groupsor written submissions. Stay tuned for more details.
