Are you hiring local artists to create the mural?

We encourage local artists to submit a mural design, however, artists from outside of Aurora are also welcome to apply. The Mural Project is open to individual Artists or Artist-Led Teams that meet the following criteria:

    • Submit a complete online Application Form; and
    • Artists with the skills and experience needed to develop a community art project and who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous or Person of Colour) will be given priority, although this is not a requirement.

A call out for artists to develop designs for the new mural will be done in June 2021. Please subscribe to this project in the bottom righthand corner to be notified when we are at that phase.

Where will the mural be constructed?

The final location for the mural has not yet been confirmed.

What is the Anti-Black Racism and Anti-Racism Task Force?

The Anti-Black Racism and Anti-Racism Task Force was established to develop strategies to eliminate racism and promote anti-racism in our community and the Municipal Corporation. The task force will identify real and actionable change with the goal of helping to remove systematic racism from the Town of Aurora.

What is being done with the ideas received?

All ideas received will be reviewed by the Mural Subcommittee and incorporated into the Call to Artists to provide guidance to artists as they prepare their mural designs.
