Aurora Town Square

On Monday, December 11 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. a crane will be on site at Church Street for the construction of catenary light poles. There will on-duty police officers present with signage to direct pedestrians and car traffic. When necessary, traffic may be diverted and turning movements may be restricted at times. Please cross at designated crosswalks, exercise caution, and stay alert walking near the construction zone.

Throughout the warmer months, construction progressed on the outdoor square, including the install of the metal panel roof system on the Treasure Hill Bridge, installation of the beautiful wood top Amphitheater seating, diverse plantings along the south and east elevations of the new Museum & Cultural Centre and Aurora Public Library, along with work on the north parking lot adjacent to Victoria Street.

Central to this transformative space is a remarkable 32,000 square-foot addition to the beloved Church Street School. Within this expansion is a stunning flexible Performance Hall, with seating for up to 250 patrons, and a variety of multi-purpose arts programming spaces.

When Aurora Town Square opens in 2024, the Aurora Cultural Centre and Aurora Museum & Archives will reunite with Aurora Public Library, operating from one location in historic downtown Aurora. Together, we will provide the community with greater opportunities for arts, culture, heritage, and connection for generations to come.
