Introducing: Aurora Town Square

On June 22, 2021, the Library Square project, the centerpiece of the Town’s ambitious downtown revitalization plan, was officially renamed Aurora Town Square. The new name, approved by Aurora Council following a public engagement process, was carefully chosen to reflect an age-old desire for communities to share a space of belonging and celebration.

Officially opening in 2022, it will feature outdoor and indoor cultural spaces that offer unlimited possibilities.

Key features include:

• A vibrant, 29,000-square-foot outdoor community space animated by a skating track in winter that can be turned into a water feature in the summer, an amphitheater/ performance space, art installation spaces, community event space, and an enclosed bridge between the Library and the Church Street School addition.

• A spectacular 32,000-square-foot addition to the beloved Church Street School facility that will feature a flexible performance hall with seating for up to 250 patrons in Theatre style, multi-purpose arts programming spaces, visual arts studio, a beautiful café, and more.

• Major updates at the Aurora Public Library, including a new entrance and programming spaces, and a roof-top reading garden, which will make it even more accessible and user-friendly.
