Get ready Aurora! Construction of the Town’s newest facility is about to begin.

We are excited to announce the kick off to Library Square Construction starting the week of October 12.

Residents and business owners can expect to see the following take place:

  • Large construction equipment moved on site.
  • Construction fencing and silt fencing will be going up around the entire site.
  • Daily construction will generally occur Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.. Due to the nature of this work, there will be dust and construction-related noise from equipment and trucks.
  • Impacts to Aurora Public Library parking and Curbside Pickup.
  • Early works on the project will commence with construction of parking improvements adjacent to the property along Victoria Street (west side) and Church Street (north side).
  • Where necessary, traffic may be diverted and turning movements may be restricted at times. Detour signs will be in place to safely guide motorists and pedestrians around the temporary closures. We understand that construction can be disruptive to those who live and work in the area, and have taken steps to reduce the impacts where possible.

To minimize disruption where possible, crews will:

  • Limit the reversing of vehicles with back-up safety beeper.
  • Aim headlights away from buildings and homes.
  • Reduce the banging noise from dump truck tailgates.
  • Set up portable lights in a way that limits upcasting onto buildings.
  • Ensure equipment is well maintained and running well.

*Please note: As with all construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather. We will provide advance notice when possible. Watch twitter.com/Town_of_Aurora for last-minute updates.
